Nancy Biniadaki is an award-winning writer and director based in Berlin, born in Athens. As a versatile storyteller, she works across film, theater, and video art, blending cultural and artistic perspectives with a distinctive cinematic signature.

Her latest feature film, MAYSOON (2024), is a German-Greek co-production. Her debut feature, THE SURFACE OF THINGS (2017), premiered in competition at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival and received the Best New Director Award at the Athens International Film Festival.

Her acclaimed short films include DER MOND UND ICH (2015), a commissioned work for ZDF/KiKa, which was honored with the Grimme Award and selected as a finalist at the Prix Jeunesse International. Her short film STILL COUNTING (1998) received the Melina Mercouri State Award and was invited to the Biennale of Young Artists in Rome.

In addition to her fiction work, Biniadaki directed numerous documentaries for Greek public broadcaster ERT (1996–2006). She was also part of the artistic team for the closing ceremony of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

In theater, she has worked as a director, dramaturge, and video artist – including for the Athens & Epidaurus Festival, the National Theatre of Greece, the Megaron Athens Concert Hall, and various theater and opera stages in Greece, Italy, and the independent scene in Berlin.

Nancy Biniadaki studied Classical Literature at the University of Athens and Film Directing at the Stavrakos Film School. She completed her Master’s degree in Directing and Screenwriting at Sheffield Hallam University with a scholarship from the Onassis Foundation.

She gained professional experience as an assistant editor in film and as an assistant director in major theater and opera productions.
